Latest lockdown guidance, 2021 AGM, Committee Nominations and Trophy Presentation

Hi All,

Your Committee met last week to discuss all things TEYC. What a year we are all having! Suffice to say for the time being during this second ‘lockdown’ the club is effectively closed. Government regulation, RYA guidance and the local situation means we are being advised that we shouldn’t launch boats from our Jetty (I think the weather is telling us that too!).

You have our assurance that the building is being regularly checked and your boats are looked at several times a week – so all is as safe and secure as practicable.

Meantime – our minds are turning to next year (7 weeks away!). We are starting to plan a great new season for you all. As part of this process we will need to hold the AGM in January on Sunday the 10th – this may be virtual but will certainly involve you guys electing another hard working Committee of volunteers to keep the club running. To this end we need people to nominate candidates to stand -– the process for this has gone online this year, see theweekahead email for details.

In terms of celebrating the winning of races this year, we have decided to postpone the Trophy presentation evening until March – in the hope that we can all be together in the real world … if not we have a cunning plan B.

Once again, thank you for your continued support of the Club – it’s important we all have sailing and social events to look forward to in this mad world. We all know the positive way that water makes us all feel! You will have received your membership details from Zoe recently and we do hope the small gesture of no rise next year and a free month goes a small way to say thank you too ..

Take Care – I WILL see you on the water sometime in 2021 … or indeed in the bar again even sooner if we can!!

Regards

Neil Woodbridge
