Patrol boat cover
We are having considerable difficulty in finding members to operate the club patrol boats and we need to train more people up to helm/crew them. Jonathan Charnock has kindly agreed to run another training course in the near future. Another way for members to gain experience is to crew for the designated driver as and when it suits. If you are interested in either / both, please contact Jay Denny (see the latest TEYCWeekAhead Special Notice email for his address).
I cannot emphasise enough how important it is that members volunteer, from a safety aspect firstly, and also, if we have no patrol boat cover, then we have no racing! So please contact Jay ASAP. Your club needs you!
P.S. We also need patrol boat crew for this Sunday, so contact Jay if you are available.
Club Boat Hire
As you know the club has a number of Toppers and a Topaz that are for general use by members and they are in constant need of maintenance and replacement. There has always been a fee for the use of these boats but the collection of it has been non-existent for a while now, which is obviously not good for club funds. There is now a book that will be kept in the race officer’s desk, which has to be filled in when one of the boats is used for a race or for daysail. The cost will be £4 for a topper or £5 for the Topaz; please give the fee to a flag officer, the treasurer, or bar/galley staff. If there is no one to take the money please make a note of this in the book. There will be no charge for the boats during Cadet Regattas or Family days.
Interclub Team Race
The above will be held on the 24th September with a start time of approx. 13.30 from the Leigh Sailing Club. If you would like to enter this race on behalf of the TEYC could you please let Roy Nunn at know ASAP (see the latest TEYCWeekAhead Special Notice email for his address). If we could muster a team of Darts and another menagerie team together it would be a good advert for the club.
