The Week Ahead 27th August – 2nd September

TEYC Annual Curry Buffet – Saturday 8th September
The TEYC annual curry buffet is coming up next week – Saturday 8th September.  Food will be provided by the Mumtaz Mahal of Westcliff. The cost will be £10.95 and £6.95 for cadets . Please email The Commodore now to reserve your places (see the latest TheWeekAhead email for his address).

A reminder regarding locking boats on the jetty…
Would all members who have a boat on the jetty please ensure that their boat is padlocked securely to the jetty as soon as possible.  We had 2 boats removed by rough sleepers and left on the mud where they bizarrely decided to sleep in them.  This resulted in a lot of time being wasted by members who went down to help and the police who also attended to talk the men involved.  Thanks to those club members who attended and helped to check out all the boats and replace covers etc.

In view of all of the above, any boats that are not padlocked by the weekend of 8th/9th September will be made secure by the club and the owner will be charged for the padlock and cable plus an admin fee.

Now please see below for all the details week’s activities at The TEYC…

It’s time for our annual trip up river (19 nautical miles) to visit and camp for the night with our friends at Thurrock Yacht Club (AKA Grays) AND they will host a welcome BBQ as well as an RNLI fundraising quiz night.  This would be a big stretch for a fleet of little dinghies so we’ve decided that there will be a flotilla of ribs and cruisers … definitely a chance to see the QE2 bridge from underneath on the Sunday, Tilbury and DP World London Gateway Port on the way up as well as old forts and large ships up close (but not too close).  Also, landlubbers can drive or catch a train to Grays and meet us at the club if they so desire, so good fun can be had by all.

If you’re interested in going and haven’t spoken to him already, e-mail Neil Woodbridge (see the latest TheWeekAhead email for his address).
