Hi all,
This is to let you know about some planned changes to cadet events in September/October.
Firstly, we have decided to cancel the Cadet Night planned for Friday 18th September and instead favour events that allow cadets to go out on the water and to build on the success of the cadet regatta. Here’s a breakdown of what’s coming up:
Sunday 13th September
On Sunday 13th September there is autumn points racing, this is two fairly short races around the orange marks, very similar to the Monday of the cadet regatta. This is some of the racing that regularly takes place and we would like to encourage more cadets to get involved with this. The racing starts at 12 noon and we would like to encourage all cadets to come down and do this racing. To take part in the race cadets need to be down early to rig boats whether they have their own boat or not, provided cadets are down at least 1.5hrs before the start we will be able to help cadets and assign them to boats, we want to encourage cadets of all ages and abilities to come down so please do not worry about not being experienced enough. Zoe will be down from 10am to help the cadets rig boats and give a briefing before the race and some guidelines to the cadets of what to do before and during the race.
Friday 18th September – Cadet Night is cancelled.
Saturday 26th September – The second half of the autumn points racing series is Saturday 26th starting at 11am so a similar format will be running, Zoe will again be down to help from 9:30am.
Saturday 10th October – Family Day (unfortunately neither myself or Zoe are able to attend on this day – however cadets are of course welcome to attend, use the club boats and there should be safety boat cover).
Friday 16th October – Cadet night is cancelled.
Later in October – we are looking to plan some sort of social event for cadets. Watch this space!
Thank you,
Neal
