Geoff Howlett
We are sad to announce the passing of Geoff on Monday 25th November 2024
Geoff was an active and longstanding member of Thames Estuary Yacht Club. As a keen sailor himself, he qualified as an RYA instuctor so he could help develop youth sailing within the club. In later years Geoff regularly popped in for a drink and a natter, or to watch two further generations of his family sail. Geoff was a kind and generous gentleman who will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
The funeral will take place at Southend Crematorium on Tuesday 17th December at 12 noon and afterwards at Thames Estuary Yacht Club. Everyone is welcome. Family flowers only please but any donations in Geoff’s memory would be very gratefully received for Southend RNLI c/o FP Guiver & Sons or online @ www.guiver.co.uk

A plea from The Commodore
As all members should be aware, the club voted to increase Membership fees from 1st November 2024 at the AGM held on 1st January
This is our first increase of membership fees for several years. The Membership Secretary has worked hard to email every member/family group detailing the new fees due from them. These emails went out in mid-October.
Despite this, around one quarter of our members have either paid their old amount in November or have not paid at all. We all lead busy lives and I am aware that these things can slip through the net sometimes. I am asking for everybody to please check that you are not one of the members who are now in arrears. If you find that you are, please take the appropriate action, as detailed in the aforementioned email, to rectify the situation.

We’re excited to announce the 2024 TEYC Members’ Christmas Lunch on Sunday 15 December. Join us for an afternoon with great company, holiday cheer, and a delicious menu that includes cider-pulled-pork, salmon, an actual Australian pavlova, and more Christmas treats.
£15 per adult, £7.50 per cadet, and free for junior cadets and ducklings. Payments and dietary requirements must be made by Saturday 7 December
