TEYC Pizza Night and Cadet/Family/Push the Boat Out Weekend – 16/17th May

Hi everyone,

After a weekend of reported sun and lovely winds we are now ready for the sailing season to kick up a notch. Coming up on the weekend of 16/17th May we are hoping to have a fantastic weekend of sailing. We’ve booked the scorching sun and lovely steady wind, so now we just need you to make it great. Please see below and volunteer if you can.

It’s a Cadet/Family sail which is also combined with our ‘Push the Boat Out’ event (part of a national event coordinated by the RYA with the aim of getting people out on the water for the first time or to try new things).

The plan for the weekend is as follows:

Saturday 16th May

High tide is at 11.54am so we should be able to get out on the water from about 9.30. There will be a cadet training session from 10am until 12pm with free sailing after that. Cadets should arrive by 9.30am to rig and change ready for the 10am start.

From 12pm to 2pm there will also be a ‘Push the Boat Out’ session to get new people out on the water. They will be able to ‘crew’ on sailing dinghies and find out more about TEYC. Please encourage family, friends, colleagues, neighbours etc., to come along to this. This is a great opportunity to show off the club’s excellent facilities and encourage new people into the sport.

Pizza Night
This is listed on the programme as a Cadet Pizza Night but everybody is welcome. The pizza will be provided by the excellent local restaurant Piccolo and is a bargain at £7.50 per person/cadet to include a selection of pizzas (including vegetarian) and garlic bread. We need to know numbers by Sunday 10th May so please let Neal Robertson know ASAP if you would like to come along. The club will be open by 7pm (although volunteers permitting we’ll try to keep it open from when the sailing finishes), and the food will arrive between 7.30 and 8.

 Sunday 17th May

High tide is at 12.43pm so we should be able to get on the water soon after 10.00. There will be cadet sailing throughout the day although it is likely to be less structured than on the Saturday.

From 11.30am to 1.30pm there will be another ‘Push the Boat Out’ session.

 YOUR HELP NEEDED !

This has the potential to be a brilliant weekend out on the water but we need your help to make it happen.

Firstly we need confident sailors to take our visitors and newbies out for a boat ride during the two ‘Push the Boat Out’ sessions (12pm to 2pm Saturday/11.30am to 1.30pm Sunday). If you and your boat are available for either or both of these then please contact Neil Woodbridge.

We also need volunteers throughout the weekend to helm/crew the safety boats, and to help in the galley/open the bar. Please let Neal Robertson know what help you are able to give.

If you have any questions about the weekend then contact us directly, or use the website contact form. Many thanks, and we look forward to seeing you at the club on 16/17th May.
