The Week Ahead 26th – 31st August

NOTICE BOARD

Camping weekend to IYC

Dear Members

Our next exciting camping trip is coming very soon !
Sat/Sun 6th / 7th Sept we sail to the Island Yacht Club Canvey.

This is the one where we have the fire pit and tunes on the beach in the evening and an inter-club quiz, hosted by IYC which we won last year. So, let’s put our heads together and see if we can beat them again !

The trip is for adults and cadets alike, and as usual you can either come by sea or meet us at the venue arriving “Rubber Over Tarmac” camp for the night or just stay for the day/evening.

Please let Paul Hunt know, see theweekahead email for contact detailsif you are intending to come with the numbers in your party as I need to advise the hosts on numbers for galley catering.

We don’t BBQ at this venue, but the galley will be open for us in the afternoon/evening and again for breakfast on Sunday morning.

The upcoming Interclub Model Boat Club Regatta
Sunday 14th September

This will take part at Southchurch Park Boating Lake and consist of a mixed relay of 6 yachts, 3 yachts per team drawn by lots.

Each race will consist of 2 or 3 laps of the course depending upon the wind. After completing one lap, the yacht helm is passed to another team member. They expect to run 3 – 4 races. If 4 races are held a team can discard their worse result.

Muster time and more info to follow.

Poppies for the Pier – Last 4 Weeks

As a tribute for Remembrance Day, from 5 to 16 November 2025 Southend Pier hopes be transformed with a massive 1.33 mile yarn bomb display of knitted and crocheted red poppies.

This sounds like a great project so please help TEYC contribute a whole dinghy full of poppies! There will be a collection point at the club so please get your yarn, needles and hooks out, come down knit/crochet and natter at the bar or just drop a poppy (or 10) in when you are passing. We’ll take all the poppies collected to the Pier no later than 20 September for inclusion in the display.
