Camping weekend to IYC
Our next exciting camping trip – to Island Yacht Club is THIS WEEKEND! (Sat/Sun 6th / 7th Sept)
This is the one where we have the fire pit and tunes on the beach in the evening.
There will also be an inter-club quiz, hosted by IYC (which we won last year) so let’s put our heads together and see if we can beat them again.
The trip is for adults and cadets alike, and as usual you can either come by sea or meet us at the venue arriving “Rubber Over Tarmac” camp for the night or just stay for the day/evening.
Please let Paul Hunt know (see theweekahead eamil for his contact details) the numbers in your party as we need to advise the hosts on numbers for galley catering .
We do not BBQ or self-cater at this venue (so please don’t bring BBQ’s or order take -away food) as the galley will be open for us in the afternoon and evening on Saturday and again for full English breakfast on Sunday morning from 0900.

Some FAQ’s :-
Will the toilets at IYC be open during the night for our ‘convenience’ ? YES
Can I take my tent to IYC and set it up on the Friday evening ? YES
Can I take my own Alcohol ? NO – please do not bring your own alcohol, please use the bar for your drinks, this is what makes it worth IYC hosting us each year.
Does that mean me ? YES
What time will be we back on Sunday ?
HW Sunday = 13:10 (5.6m)
I expect we can leave IYC around 11:45 – 12:00
Arrive back at TEYC somewhere around 1pm on Sunday
Approximate – Depends on Wind strength and direction
This will take part at Southchurch Park Boating Lake and consist of a mixed relay of 6 yachts, 3 yachts per team drawn by lots.
Each race will consist of 2 or 3 laps of the course depending upon the wind. After completing one lap, the yacht helm is passed to another team member. They expect to run 3 – 4 races. If 4 races are held a team can discard their worse result.
